I got up at 5:00 AM this morning. It was okay, although I was pretty sleepy… and I did fall asleep a little later in the morning for a nap.
One thing that’s been weird to predict during this challenge is how much sleep I need. On the days that I get up and feel great, I’ve gotten 4-5 hours of sleep or 7-8 hours of sleep. On the days that I’ve woken up sleepy enough to turn off my alarm and go back to bed or struggle for a bit before crashing on the couch, I’ve gotten 5-6 hours of sleep. Even this, though, is just a rough calculation based on what I can remember of my successes and struggles during this challenge. This is giving me something to think about in terms of timing when I go to bed. If I want to wake up at 5:00 AM, I need to go to sleep between 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM or between 12:00 AM and 1:00 AM. I’m going to think about this a little more and maybe do some testing.
