The 5:00 AM challenge (7/30)

Good morning! I’ve been challenging myself this month to get up at 5:00 AM every day.

Two days ago I got up at 5:00 AM but felt awful and ended up crashing for several hours in the morning. Yesterday I turned off my alarm and went back to bed.

I attributed both those days to a few potential factors, including the weather, improper pre-bed routines, and a too-late bed time.

So last night I sought to correct that as much as I could. The weather, fortunately, complied as well (the worst of the weather passed yesterday). I enjoyed a better pre-bed routine (no working! Instead, I read and watched some TV). I tried to get to bed a bit earlier (although it turned out that I basically went to bed at the same time as usual).

And the result? This morning was great! I got up at 5:00 AM and felt wide awake and ready to go — probably the best I’ve felt at 5:00 AM since starting this challenge. Really happy to see that improvement!

Of course I’m not 100% sure which of the factors played a role in helping me feel better in the morning (perhaps one or two factors; perhaps something else I haven’t considered at all) but it’s still valuable information for me to lock away for the future.

Well, I need to jump on some work.

Stay productive!
