Karen,

You make a great point about marketing diversity: The offline/online mix is critical (and overlooked). Glad to have inspired you with the magalog opportunity!

Aaron, this sounds like an excellent sales tool. I am a huge believer in a diverse marketing mix that does not solely rely on online tools. I am not a fan of article sites would rather publish on my own blog but love the idea of a magalog. I plan to check it out, thanks Aaron!

Mike,

Thanks for the follow-up. I'm know I haven't covered everything possible when it comes to magalogs but I had to highlight some of the things that were interesting to me. Hopefully I've sparked something among my readers to inspire them to consider magalogs as a useful way to cut through to the decision-maker.

Interesting point about Oprah still relying on good, old-fashioned direct mail!

Thanks for the mention, Aaron.

I hesitate to add anything for fear of sounding biased, but let me mention one thing...

I'm giving a webinar to an Australian audience tomorrow. In preparing the pieces I'm going to show, I have a magalog sent out by Oprah in the last year. She was selling a book based on articles from here magazine.

It struck me that someone who has over 3.7 million Twitter followers and other "new media" outlets to get the word out still felt that direct mail (and a magalog in particular) was an important piece of her marketing mix.

Just with the Twitter followers alone, a short "Here's a new product from me and here's where to get it" message would generate a huge amount of revenue, such is the loyalty of her audience.

So it's always interesting to me who is using magalogs and what people are using them for.
